Kunyit (Curcuma longa) is a tropical herbal plant native to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, where it has been used as a spice and traditional medicine for thousands of years.

ORIGIN:  Native to Southeast Asia, it grows wild and cultivated across the Indonesian archipelago.

PLANTING:  Thrives in warm tropical climates (temperatures of 20–30°C) with high rainfall and loose, well-drained soil. It is planted using healthy rhizome cuttings placed in holes or shallow trenches during the rainy season.

HARVESTING:

• Timing: Harvested when the leaves and stems turn yellow and dry up, typically 8 to 9 months after planting.
• Method: The soil around the plant is carefully dug up, and the yellowish-orange rhizomes are pulled out and cleaned of dirt.
