Description
Kemukus (Cubebae fructus)
Indonesia Standard Quality Grade

ORIGIN: Native to Indonesia, particularly Java and Sumatra, kemukus is traditionally cultivated in warm, humid tropical environments with fertile soils and sufficient rainfall.
PLANTING: Thrives in warm tropical climates with temperatures around 20–30°C, high humidity, sufficient rainfall, and fertile, loose, well-drained soil. It is commonly propagated from healthy stem cuttings or young plants and grown with support structures such as trees, poles, or trellises because of its climbing growth habit.
HARVESTING:
- Timing: Harvested when the fruits are mature but still green or beginning to darken, generally around 2–3 years after planting, depending on growing conditions and cultivation practices.
- Method: Mature fruit clusters are carefully picked by hand before the fruits become fully ripe. The harvested fruits are then cleaned, sorted, and dried naturally or using controlled drying methods according to the intended product specification.
